About Our Sleepaway Sewing Retreat for Adults

Camp Workroom Social's Wardrobe Week is a five-day, four-night summer camp-inspired adult sewing retreat that combines focused garment-making with community-building. Campers work on sewing garments that reflect their personal style, supported by our team of expert fashion sewists. The retreat is filled with hands-on sewing, curated lectures and workshops, some outdoor adventures, and the kind of joy that can only come from being a kid again at summer camp.

Designed for expanding your wardrobe, deepening your creativity, and making new friends, Camp Workroom Social blends the magic of a sleepaway camp experience with the freedom to work on your own projects. Whether you're batch sewing multiple garments or fine-tuning the fit of one piece, you'll leave with progress on your projects, a new community of sewists, and renewed energy for sewing your own clothes.

What to Expect

Throughout the retreat, campers work side-by-side in small groups on their own projects at their own pace. Each small group works with a dedicated sewing instructor who is matched with campers based on their desired outcomes and goals. Instructors can demonstrate sewing techniques, help with problem solving, assist with fitting, and offer a professional perspective on the garment-making process. Some campers work on a single complex project, while others prefer rotating between multiple pieces throughout the retreat.

In addition to open sewing time, campers can attend curated lectures and workshops on topics like fit, color, silhouette, fabric, finishing techniques, trims and hardware, garment care, design and planning, and project workflow. When you're not sewing, you can join a variety of camp-inspired activities, including arts and crafts, hiking, ziplining, or relaxing with fellow campers.

Our staff specializes in teaching sewing to adult learners in a relaxed, non-competitive setting. At Camp Workroom Social, we embrace experimentation and curiosity over perfection, giving you space to grow, explore, and connect with other campers through sewing. Great sewing comes with time and practice, and our goal is to give you the skills, the confidence, and the support of a community to help you continue your sewing journey at home.
