Camp Workroom Social returns this October!

Camp Workroom Social returns this October!

Camp Workroom Social is October 18–21, 2024, and registration opens on Thursday, July 25. Camp Workroom Social is a four-day, three-night summer camp-inspired sewing retreat for adults, featuring intensive classes taught by contemporary experts in apparel sewing. To help you decide whether our retreat is right for you, I wanted to tell you about our COVID policy this year.

After researching vaccines, talking to healthcare professionals, and thinking about our community of campers and staffers, I've decided to continue requiring updated COVID vaccinations as recommended by the CDC.

Keeping up to date with the CDC's COVID-19 vaccination recommendations helps reduce the spread of the virus in our communities. Here's how:

  1. Public Health Impact: High vaccination rates contribute to overall community protection, making it harder for the virus to spread as widely. This can be referred to as community immunity. This helps protect those who cannot be vaccinated, such as individuals with certain medical conditions. The overall effect of widespread vaccination is a reduced incidence of the disease, which protects vulnerable populations. World Health Organization, CDC, World Economic Forum
  2. Lower Transmission Rates: Vaccinated individuals are less likely to contract COVID-19, and if they do, they generally have a lower viral load, making them less contagious. This significantly reduces the likelihood of spreading the virus to others. Mayo Clinic, World Health Organization, Yale Medicine, CDC
  3. Shorter Period of Contagiousness: Vaccinated people typically clear the virus faster than unvaccinated individuals, meaning they are contagious for a shorter period. This helps to further limit the spread of the virus. CDC, Mayo Clinic, World Economic Forum
  4. Reduced Severity of Illness: The COVID-19 vaccines help reduce the severity of illness if one does get infected. This leads to fewer hospitalizations and deaths, which also contributes to less overall transmission as there are fewer severe cases in the community. Johns Hopkins, World Health Organization, Oxford University

These points underscore the critical role that vaccines play in controlling the spread of COVID-19 and protecting our community health.

With these things in mind, you can read our full COVID-19 policies on Workroom Social's Terms of Service page.

If you have any questions about this or anything else, you can always reach me by email or phone. I hope to see you this October at Camp Workroom Social!
