Sewing bloggers take Manhattan!
It’s Monday, I’m staring at a disaster of a studio, and I just wish it was Saturday all over again! I feel so lucky to have spent the weekend with some of the most amazing women ever. We all have sewing in common, but more than that, we are kind, fun, funny, welcoming people who are all excited to make make new friends. I had the best time hanging out with sewing bloggers Ginger, Wanett, Oona, Heather, Sallie, Devra, Kelli, and Latrice. These women are full of kind words and inspiration, I left the weekend just wanting to sew, sew, sew!
We met in the Garment District for fabric shopping of course. I’m not usually the best shopper because I have a hard time finding exactly what I want. This shopping trip was something special, though. Seeing bolts through everyone else’s eyes really gave me a fresh perspective on fabrics. I got a couple of things including some wool for a winterized dress. Hope to start work on it soon!
Shopping with these ladies was so much fun! Everyone got great stuff. One of the bravest sewers I now know is Oona who walked out of Mood with a bolt of some kind of woven raffia fabric to make a wrap coat. What imagination!
After our day in the District Heather, Sallie, Latrice and I headed over to K-town for drinks and dinner. We stopped at Hotel Metro for a great view of the Empire State building, then continued on for some Korean BBQ. We ended the night with a walk on the Highline and stop at the Standard Hotel.
Can’t wait to see everyone again soon!
