miLES opens underused storefronts to new possibilities by creating short-term, multi-use spaces as community hubs. They work with residents, artists, businesses and landlords in the Lower East Side to identify, program and fill underused spaces and turn them into vibrant community hubs for working, learning, connecting, and starting up new projects. By helping to open up underused storefronts to “pop-up” activations, miLES offers a temporary home for emerging projects, and provide inclusive economic opportunities for the neighborhood.
They are currently running a Kickstarter campaign to fund the miLES Storefront Transformer, which will transform a vacant storefront this winter into a pop-up neighborhood hub with 7 themes: SHOW, PLAY, LEARN, SHARE, MAKE, SHOP & EAT. Guess who’s scheduled to program and run the MAKE theme? Kollabora!
By pledging to this Kickstarter campaign, you can help incubate the 7 emerging ideas this winter and 50+ next year! You might even see Workroom Social in a miLES pop-up in 2014.
I hope you’ll join me in supporting this awesome program!
